SONDBY COTTAGE
Sondby cottage sits on the southern edge of Porvoo, in the eastern part of Uusimaa. It’s conveniently located with only a kilometer separating the sea and a lake. If you’re arriving by boat, a spot is reserved for you at Skeppars guest harbor.
The area is characterized by numerous little lakes, rocky cliffs, and beautiful natural scenery. The buildings on the property have been thoughtfully designed to blend into the environment and are nestled discreetly among the trees.
The cottage grounds host several buildings. You’ll easily spot the observation tower on the main house from afar, offering panoramic views of the surroundings! The main house features a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, a living room, three bedrooms, and a sleeping alcove, providing beds for seven people. It also has a bathroom with a toilet, shower, and laundry facilities. Inside, you’ll find fireplaces and a flat-screen TV for your comfort and entertainment. Outside, a terrace with two tables and seating for ten, along with a gas grill, awaits you.
The guest cottage is a separate, smaller building on the property. It provides sleeping space with a double sofa bed and a regular double bed. Its small kitchenette includes a sink, microwave, and refrigerator. The guest cottage also has its own fireplace and a functional wood-burning stove. Right outside, there’s an outdoor grilling area and a table. The flagpole is also located near the guest cottage.

Down by the small lake, you’ll find the sauna building. Inside, there’s a traditional wood-burning sauna where you can truly enjoy the heat.
In front of the sauna is a hot tub, large enough for up to six people to soak in at once. You can easily enjoy a warm dip in the lake water from the hot tub. Wa
ter for the hot tub is supplied from the sauna using a hose, and firewood for heating is readily available in the woodshed.
The property even has an island in the lake, accessible by a bridge. On the far side of the island, another bridge leads you back to the “mainland,” where a genuine Indian teepee awaits! This is the perfect spot for cozy barbecues.
In this area, you’ll also find a swing and a dartboard for some outdoor fun.
Good to know: Sondby cottage is a non-smoking property, and your pets are welcome!

Around the Property
You’ll find a main house and a smaller guest house. There’s also a tower for great views, a lakeside sauna, and a wood-fired hot tub. Practical things include a woodshed and parking. For a bit of fun, there’s a traditional teepee, a rowboat, and a dartboard.
Kitchens
- Main House: The kitchen has an oven, stovetop, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, fridge, freezer, and dishwasher. You’ll have enough dishes for seven people. We also have a highchair and a baby cot.
- Guest House: This has a microwave and a fridge, along with plates and cutlery for four.
Bathrooms
The main house has a bathroom with a shower and toilet together. You’ll also find a washing machine there.
Sauna
Right by the lake is a classic wood-burning sauna that can fit 8 to 10 people. It has a changing room. The hot tub nearby can comfortably fit six.
Living Spaces
- Main House: Downstairs is a big open area combining the kitchen, dining space, and living room. There’s a fireplace, a 50-inch TV, and two leather couches. You’ll have air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
- Guest House: The guest house has a small living room and also offers free Wi-Fi.
Bedrooms
- Main House: There are three bedrooms. Two of them have two separate single beds (80×200 cm each), and the third has one single bed. Each bedroom has a place to hang clothes with a mirror, storage space, and a reading lamp. There’s also a little nook with a double bed.
- Guest House: This has one double bed and a sofa bed that can sleep two people.
Cleaning equipments and detergents can be found in the cottage.
